Residential

Spray foam insulation expands to fill every gap and seal your building — keeping in clean air and stopping heat from escaping in winter and entering in summer.

Where Ottawa Homes Lose Heat

In a typical Ottawa house, a large share of winter heat loss is air leakage rather than conduction through the insulation. Warm air escapes through the attic hatch, around recessed lights, along the rim joist and through gaps in the wall cavity, and cold air is drawn in low down to replace it. Adding more batt insulation on top of those leaks does not solve the problem. Spray foam does, because it seals the gap and insulates it at the same time.

  • Attic and roof deck, where most heat is lost
  • Rim joist, one of the leakiest parts of any house
  • Basement and crawl space walls
  • Cathedral ceilings and knee walls
  • Garage ceilings below living space

Open-Cell or Closed-Cell for a Home?

Both are used in houses and the right choice depends on the assembly. Open-cell foam is lighter, more economical and slightly better at damping airborne sound, which suits interior walls and some attic applications. Closed-cell foam has a higher R-value per inch, resists moisture and adds stiffness to the structure, which makes it the usual choice below grade, at the rim joist and anywhere space is tight. We will tell you which one your project actually needs rather than defaulting to one product.

What the Process Looks Like

We start with a site visit and a written quote, so you know the scope and cost before anything begins. On installation day we mask and protect the work area, apply the foam, trim it back where required and remove all waste. Most homes are ready to reoccupy within 24 hours. You get a tidy site, a clear explanation of what was done and a point of contact afterwards if you have questions.
