Using spray foam insulation can contribute significantly to reducing the environmental stress faced by the world today. It ensures your home maintains the highest standards of energy efficiency and, as a result, reduces the carbon emissions produced by burning fossil fuels to heat and cool most buildings. In addition, soy-based medium-density spray foam is composed of renewable vegetable oils and recycled plastics.
The environmental case for insulation is straightforward: buildings are among the largest sources of energy consumption and emissions, and the cleanest energy is the energy you never use. A building that needs substantially less heating and cooling for the whole of its service life saves far more emissions than were involved in insulating it.
Older spray foams used blowing agents with a high global warming potential. The product we install, Genyk Boréal, is formulated with a low-GWP blowing agent, which substantially reduces the impact of the installation itself. This is a genuine and relatively recent improvement in the industry, and it is worth asking any contractor which generation of product they are quoting.
Insulation that settles, sags or absorbs moisture stops performing and eventually has to be replaced. Spray foam adheres in place and holds its performance for the life of the building, so the environmental cost is paid once rather than repeatedly.
From energy efficiency to structural integrity, spray foam delivers lasting value.
