It means that its resistance to heat levels is lower, leading to the insulation failing at extreme temperatures. Since open cell foam remains highly dense, it can provide adequate insulation. Open-cell foam is not water-resistant, but its lower strength offers less support for walls. It’s additionally more permeable vapors and air and has lower noise frequencies.
